Today we will focus on ways to keep our children safe on the internet, in the streets and in general.
1. www.safekids.com This site shares information on how to keep children safe on the internet. Keep the computer in a highly trafficked area so that you can see what sites your children are on.
2. www.childsafetynetwork.org This site shares information on how to prevent injury and violence related incidents.
3. www.RADkids.org A well-publicized program that has been instrumental in curbing several child abductions. Children as young as 4 can learn how to protect themselves and recognize their rights and how to establish boundaries. You can locate training programs here. The program also teaches children how not to be a bully, and how to defend yourself from a bully.
4. www.mcgruff.org Children can learn about safety as they play the different games on this website. There is great information for grownups too.
5. www.airsafe.com/kidsafe.htm For parents who have children traveling alone in the air, this page is full of great information on how to stay safe.
Although we don't want to be paranoid, it is always important to keep our children informed about how to protect themselves. If there are any other sites that would be helpful about this subject, please feel free to share it with the rest of the members.
